Jiangxi Metallurgical Vocational and Technical Colege is the only full-time public vocational college in Jiangxi Province specializing in metallurgy. It is a national vocational education reform demonstration school, a national modern apprenticeship pilot school, a national emergency education pilot school, and one of the first batch of Swiss Georg Fischer Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Practice Base cultivation and construction units. The college was formed by the merger of Xinyu Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. Workers' University and Jiangxi Provincial Gold Industry School. On August 18, 2009, the two schools officially merged to run the school. The Workers' University of Xinyu Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. was founded in 1975, and the former Jiangxi Metallurgical Industry School was founded in 1978.
